Choosing sustainable organic products

According to a recent survey by Nielsen IQ in Vietnam, over 50% of the respondents expressed a desire to use products that reduce plastic, minimize waste, promote sustainable agriculture, or utilize renewable energy. This percentage is significantly higher compared to other product trends. In fact, in recent years, many consumers have changed their habits and are willing to spend more on green products, especially in the category of everyday organic food.

Organic Products

No chemical fertilizers...

No pesticides...

No growth stimulants...

No growth hormones...

With strict farming standards, organic vegetables are increasingly preferred by consumers.

Ms. Mac Thanh Thuy in Đong Đa District, Hanoi, says that she is very concerned about the origin of products because she cares deeply about the health of herself and her family.

Mrs. Hoàng Thị Hoan in Ba Đình District, Hanoi, says: "Buying organic products from the supermarket may be more expensive than regular products bought at the market, but it provides peace of mind and better health protection. There's no need to worry about pesticides."

The organic farming cooperative in Thanh Tân commune, Sóc Sơn district, Hanoi, began using organic farming methods in 2015. To date, their daily harvest yield is approximately 4-5 tons, but there are times when it is still not enough to meet the demand of their partners.

Meanwhile, large-scale enterprises have also been early adopters of sustainable organic food production ecosystems, including the use of renewable energy and waste balance.

Mrs. Đặng Thúy Hà, the Northern Regional Director at Nielsen Vietnam, stated, "Consumers choose products and brands based on various factors such as price, functionality, product origin, and more. Among the top 5 reasons, they are also very interested in natural ingredients. This reflects a significant change in consumer trends and their approach to green products and goods."

The trend of using green products and sustainable brands is not only popular in the Vietnamese market but also in other Asian countries. According to a report earlier this year by KPMG, 74% of consumers in China are willing to switch to purchasing products from brands that prioritize sustainability development.

The demand for organic products is increasing day by day. However, you also need to be mindful and carefully choose products that meet the standards. For example, in Vietnam, you can refer to the TCVN 11041:2017 standards set by the Ministry of Science and Technology for the organization of organic production, cultivation, and organic livestock. These standards play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and value of organic food products while safeguarding the rights of consumers through quality products.
